For tasks 8, I think it because all customize changes(if any) are located on deployed folder under WAS_HOME, but not on Workplace installation folder which by default will be under "Program Files/FileNet/Workplace", so when you install eForm, it will add files into "Program files/FileNet/Workplace" folder, and you'll need to repackage it and deploy it to WAS folder,that's why it ask you to copy those customize changes into Workplace installation folder.

No ideas about task 9, might be that required by WebSphere?

For 4.0 they usually do 3-4 different configurations, core compoenets ONLY (CE,PE,AE). Weblogic - Oracle, Websphere - Oracle, Websphere SQL Server etc using MS AD and Novell LDAP, all on Windows 2003 VMs.

Database servers and LDAPS are already installed. You create users, configure App. Server and perform the installations.

Content Search Engine installation is optional and you do it if you have time. There is also a Linux VM where (if you dare) can install AE instead of Windows. I did it and went well.

No other products, no farming or HA/DR complicated installations.

Task 1. Yes, but the path is under <WAS HOME>, so no matter where you installed, the path under <WAS HOME> should be there.

I am sure there is something here I don't get, and the failed installation prooves it. Only I have no clue what these pre-installation tasks mean.

Stop the process analyzer services manager before you try to add any UDF. PE must be running, PA must not be running.

It looks like something wrong when PA try to modify SQL Server database on the backend. might be you can try on both PA and SQL Server trace see what happened on the backend?

I'll try to answer your question although I am not a websphere/eform expert

My questions are:
1. Which is the JDBC driver we need to install? Same jar we use for CE? How we test JDBC connectivity and what it is used for?

if you'll use JDBC lookup on your eform template, you might need to install JDBC driver, if not, just ignore it.
2. Inst. Manual p.17 , Pre-installation tasks:
Task 1. No such directories
that's the default folder path, depends on your websphere environment and profiles setup.
Task 6. I have no IBM HTTP server (or do I?)
IBM HTTP server is a optional module, you might not have it installed on your websphere environment. you can get help from your websphere admin if there is.
Task 8. (The most confusing) Restore what? The files I backed up in step 1?
Which are the files "with customized settings", I have to copy to AE directory?
As eForm will be an add-on to Workplace, the installation will add or modify some existing files under Workplace folder, if you have any customized setting through "Site preferences" or directly under Workplace\WEB-INF folder such as Actions.xml,ProperiesPage.xml,etc, the eform installation might overwrite them.

Task 9. Why recreate the war file when no files changed?
eForm installation will add some new files into Workplace folder that's why you need to recreate the war file

3. How we verify eForms installation?
you can use eForm designer to create a eform template and deploy it to Workplace, and there is a sample and tutorials available after you install eForm designer
Also can eForms 4.0.1.002 do a complete 'clean' install or needs 4.0 to be installed first

I am afraid not, you can check the patch readme file.

Have you followed the "proper" procedure of replicating the VM?

Run Newsid after booting for first time and change computer name and IP. This may fix your problem.

Hi,
We have a requirement to provide context sensitive help on the BPF screens we are building. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be done? Does BPF provide a way to configure this, or do we have to code something which passes some kind of a page id as a parameter and then loads the relevant HTML page?

We are using BPF 4.x.

you need to use the fn_edit tool to tell Pe that it's ip adress has changed. this is documented in the ecm_help files

All,

When I try to upgrade the PE 3.0 to PE 3.5.0 I struck with the following error. In mini-installer the following error messages are there..

6-27-2008 11:32:00 Begin Image Services 4.0.20 installation
6-27-2008 11:32:00 Upgrade from version 4.0.0.238
6-27-2008 11:32:00 Silent Image Services Installation.
6-27-2008 11:32:10 RDBMS must be started in order to continue.
6-27-2008 11:32:25 RDBMS must be started in order to continue.
6-27-2008 11:32:40 RDBMS must be started in order to continue.
6-27-2008 11:32:55 RDBMS must be started in order to continue.
6-27-2008 11:33:09 RDBMS must be started in order to continue.
6-27-2008 11:33:14 Timeout waiting for RDBMS.

It would be great help if any one can help out in this issue..
